Humpback whale season 2008 |
|
The winter 2008 was exceptionally mild with lots of calm seas and sunny
days. This has allowed a lot of humpback encounters. A team led by
David Paton from Australia's Blue Planet Marine Cetacean Research
Institute has visited Levuka for the third time to conduct surveys and collect data on
migrating Southern Humpbacks and other whale species that frequent the
waters around Ovalau.
They will be returning in the winter 2009 to continue their research.
