The Old Capital Festival
 

 

The Old Capital Festival will be held between the 6th and the 8th of October, 2007.

Programme was set out as follows:
Saturday
8.00am
  • March starting at Post Office and going to Nasau Park to be led by the Police Band
8.30am
  • Official guest arrives
  • Raising of the flag and playing of the National Anthem
  • Speech by the official guest and opening of the celebrations
9.00am
  • Police Band display
9.30am
  • Walk for Health from Nasau Park to Waitovu and return, in aid of fundraising for the Hospital sponsored by Milo
  • Volleyball competition at Nasau Park 
    sponsored by Coca Cola
  • Adventure Walk for kids 
    sponsored by FMF
  • Jail for fundraising to be set up at the Bowling Club
  • Handicraft and flower arranging competition to be held in the Town Hall 
  • Firebird Smokey and the Fire House 
12.30pm
  • a display by the NFA volunteers at Nasau Park
    sponsored by Colgate 
1.30pm
  • Finals of Rugby 7’s tournament at Nasau Park
    sponsored by Koffina
2.00pm
  • Fishing competition at the wharf and/or the seawall 
5.00pm
  • Free concert at Nasau Park (sponsored by Morris Hedstrom), featuring "Delai Dokidoki and the Police Jazz Band"
    sponsored by Moris Hedstrom
Sunday
10.00am
  • Soccer competition at Nasau Park 
    sponsored by Nike
3.00pm 
  • Thanksgiving Service and Choir competition to be held at Nasau Park
During the day, a competition for the best photos of Levuka, also a display of old photos at the Town Hall. The Tourism Association will also organise a display to make people aware of what we do.
Monday
9.00am
  • Re-enactment of the signing of the Deed of Cession at Nasova 
10.30am
  • Traditional dance and meke competition
1.00pm
  • Prize giving
1.30pm
  • Closing ceremony
